English toy terrier

Description: Small dogs that are ideal home companions. The body is covered with thick, short, straight and shiny coat. The unusual triangular shape of the ears with pointed tips, deep and narrow chest, curved loins and croup, the toy terrier’s head is long, narrow wedge-shaped with flattened head. The tail tapering towards the end almost reaches the hock.Breed history: There is no exact information on the origin of the breed. The most likely its ancestors are short-growing Manchester terriers. In the process of breeding, of course, the Italian Greyhounds took part, giving a special, curved shape of the back. Originally, toy terriers were used as rat rats and for hunting rabbits. Today it is recognized companions.

Games, entertainment, recreation: English toy terriers have an explosive temper. They tend to be constantly in motion, which is fully realized in terms of the metropolis – due to the miniature size of these dogs.

Health problems: Miniaturization, regrettably, has its negative sides. One of them, of course, is a wide manifestation of hereditary diseases of the leading organs and systems. It is unacceptable to choose a puppy of this breed without first acquaintance with the parents’ medical record.

Features of the content: English toy terriers are distinguished by their independent character, which significantly complicates the process of training. In any case, it is necessary to train these dogs from an early age. As for socialization, it should also start as early as possible.

Walking toy-terriers, it is not recommended to lower them from the leash, in view of the aggressive attitude towards other dogs.

Toy Terrier’s short hair allows them to easily endure hot weather but makes them unarmed before the cold, which the owner should remember.
